Retreats as unique as you are
In the Blue Mountains
Blue Mountains NSW
Our Symphony Retreats journey started with the purchase of Piccolo in the beautiful garden town of Leura, NSW in 2010. We were living in Bondi and struggling to get on the Sydney city property ladder, so we started to look at other options and areas. When we discovered Piccolo it was love at first sight! The cottage was already operating as holiday accommodation and since Michael was working in the industry it was the perfect fit for us.
After 5 years of visiting our little Piccolo regularly, we realised we were over city living and in late 2015 made the tree change to the Blue Mountains. We bought a home with magnificent views overlooking the Megalong Valley in Katoomba. Our plan was to renovate and create two more unique mountain retreats. Harmonica has been operating since mid-2017 and Penny Whistle will open in early 2019.
We are often asked if we miss the city and our unanimous reply is that we miss our friends, but that’s about it. We love the tranquillity, clear air and everything the Blue Mountains has to offer so close by. When we arrive home after a day out, we feel the stressors and strains of life (especially after going to the city for work) melt from our bodies. Sipping a good wine while taking in the incredible sunsets from Harmonica or Penny Whistle or enjoying the morning light and whistling birds, while you sit on the verandah at Piccolo with your cup of tea, you will understand what true relaxation is. We love that our Blue Mountains towns are enriched with that old fashioned warmth and hospitality that you often find in country towns. The close community reminds us of our childhood when people smiled and said hello to you in the street.
Come and experience the beauty of the UNESCO heritage listed Blue Mountains at one of our unique retreats.
We spent our childhoods in the countryside, Holly in Bellingen, NSW and Michael in Swaledale, North Yorkshire, UK. The Blue Mountains have the beauty and calm that we both love and we know you will too.
